History

Sandra Dee made her debut in the kitchen at age 9, but learning the art of cooking goes back generations in her family. Her grandmother and mother encouraged her eagerness to learn by letting her help them in the kitchen since before she could walk. The family tradition was to meet every Sunday at "Moemoe's" house, that's another way to say grandmother (Mère) in French; as you see Sandra's family added a little flavor to everything they did. It was on these days she watched her gradmother and mother, the eldest of 13 children, cook up a storm. She witnessed the care put in the preparation while peeling potatoes or cutting onions, and very quickly began to create her own recipes and personalize her own cooking style. Now that she owns her own restaurant she can share her unique creations as well as the authentic Creole dishes passed down through the generations. Just one taste of her homemade sweet potato pie and you'll experience the love Sandra Dee puts in every dish. Sandra always says, "I love what I do, and If you don't leave out our restaurant with a smile, then I feel I did not do my job".

Jeffrey Johnson is Sandra Dee's husband and they met in San Francisco, falling in love under the stars. Jeffrey has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, having started his first business at the age of 18! Sandra Dee always wanted to open her own restaurant and Jeffrey had a solid business mind, so realizing they had the same goals, they felt it was time for them both to begin to strive towards their dream.
